In response to mounting concerns over ice and snow build-up in the charge ports of many EVs and PHEVs, I summoned all the elves in the VoltShop and put their little brains to work. And boy, did they deliver! Despite giving us frustrations with some things, they absolutely outdid themselves with this little gadget. Being the elves that they are, as soon as I asked them to make one for the Mini Cooper SE, they were all over it! And so, I present to you the MiniPort. Keep winter out of your charge port with this handy gadget. No more snow and ice making a mess and making it hard to close the charge port door. No more cleaning it out with your fingers. And no more frozen, stuck J1772 plugs in your charge port.

Our MiniPort charge port covers are now available for all years of the Mini Cooper SE. They are in stock and ready to ship. The black-colored cover blends right in with the charge port, and no one will know it's there silently protecting your car. I can make them in red by special request. We have found that other colors show dirt quite quickly.

The MiniPort is made of foam, so it won't hurt your car's finish. It's stiff enough to stay in place in all kinds of weather, but soft and flexible enough to install in seconds. It's pinned in place by the J1722 charge handle and the latching button for the port door. Rain, snow, and ice won't be able to get in there and cause you any mess. It releases with the charging head when you unplug the car and can be left right on there when you're not charging.
